Simon Leber
Software engineer · Founder of softleb
I'm Simon — a software engineer based in Munich. For more than seven years I've built web applications that have to hold up in real use: from large legacy frontends to products I take from idea to operations on my own. softleb is how I do exactly that directly for others — with no agency middle layer.

My path
I didn't start at a whiteboard — I started on real systems: administering servers, setting up networks, lending a hand in the family business. That hands-on mindset stuck. I want to understand how something actually runs, not just how it looks in a diagram.
I studied computer science at TU Munich and spent seven years at a Munich software company. There I migrated a 250,000-line frontend to modern tooling, built an offline-capable PWA for field technicians, and co-led a small team — from test strategies to a complex backend on PostgreSQL, Kafka and Elasticsearch.
Since 2025 I've been independent. I build websites and full-stack products end-to-end and own the whole picture: product decisions, frontend, backend, operations. Alongside that I keep a hands-on connection to photovoltaics, heat pumps and the software that makes those systems visible and controllable.
What matters to me: honest assessments over sales talk, clean engineering over showing off, and the willingness to sit with a problem until it's genuinely solved.
